“…universal enough to touch a chord in every human heart.”  — The New York Times

This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning masterpiece is one of August Wilson’s most popular and affecting plays about the African American experience in the 20th century. Set in 1957 Pittsburgh, Fences is a powerful family drama of fathers and sons, dreams and disillusions, and the stark reality of attaining the American Dream. Once a home run king of the Negro baseball league, Troy Maxson now spends his days working as a garbage collector. At home he builds both literal and emotional fences around his wife and son, while harboring a secret that will have life-changing effects on the entire family. At a time when our national conversation is full of racial, social, and economic “walls,” Fences is universal and timeless.

Fences runs approximately two hours and thirty minutes, including one fifteen minute intermission.
